2006
Conference overview
More than 300 representatives of the workers' compensation community
attended the fifth Oregon Workers' Compensation Educational
Conference, May 15 and 16, 2006, at the Salem Conference Center.
The conference kicked off with a key note address from Michael Wood, Oregon OSHA Administrator; John Shilts, Workers' Compensation
Division Administrator; and Cory Streisinger, DCBS Director. David Rabiner greeted conference participants at lunchtime with ideas for having fun and staying sane at work. While at the conference,
attendees chose from over 35 topics in tracks for workers, employers, insurance professionals, medical providers, and vocational counselors. A track for participants who were new to workers'
compensation was also offered.
WCD designed this conference using customer input from the various participants within the workers' compensation system. The conference
provided opportunities for attendees to ask questions regarding specific concerns, learn about resources available for assistance, and hear about the most current information and issues affecting
the industry. It was also a networking opportunity for service providers, claim managers, employers, injured-worker representatives, vocational rehabilitation counselors, attorneys, and others.
WCD is already working on plans for our next conference, and we would love to hear your ideas about topics, speakers, locations,
and conference dates.
